For the last 18 years, Reinert-Ritz GmbH has been headquartered in the County of Bentheim in Lower Saxony. The plastics company is based in the suburbs of Nordhorn, in the Klausheide-East industrial park.
From a distance, the visitor can easily recognise the finite structures of the production halls. High value products are fabricated and certified for equipment and pipeline construction.
The processing is monitored from the delivery of the raw materials through to the half-product and final product stages by means of test installations to meet national and international norms and guidelines. The cornerstone of the success is shaped from the research and development driven basis, the experienced, highly-motivated employees, just as much as from the modern machine park. In the perpetually optimised production halls, plastic injection moulding, extrusion, metal-working and welding technologies are blended together.
Reinert-Ritz GmbH is a leader in the production of hollow bars and solid rods. High quality hollow bars and solid rods are produced in over 200 different dimensions from polyethylene and polypropylene. Standard and special dimensions are produced from ordered and in-stock items according to the customer’s requirements. Amongst the strengths are the large dimensions which are available. Hollow bars are extruded to a maximum outside diameter of 1850 mm and solid rod up to 1010 mm.
Reinert-Ritz GmbH has available a broad spectrum of fittings for the gas and water supply sectors, waste water pressure pipelines /waste water systems / landfills and industries, up to 600 mm. In the water supply sector, Reinert-Ritz has earned a national and international reputation. It is particularly in the segment of large diameter PE fittings that the company sees its future. Being as the development process is very protracted and cost intensive, a large number of the products developed are covered by patent rights.
A competent sales team deals with the daily exchange with customers in order to bring the requirements of the market to the company. This high level of exchange ensures that the products are continually reviewed and re-developed to meet the user requirements in the market linked in the on-going process and system. The key point in the next year will be the production of pipeline fittings in polyethylene for the water supply sector, in particular, with the safety and quality in the forefront.
The company products are displayed at many national and international exhibitions, and contacts established or re-established with potential customers throughout Europe and the rest of the world. Altogether Reinert-Ritz delivers to customers in 37 countries.
Located in the centre of a strong economic region – the regional city of Nordhorn in Lower Saxony is on the border with The Netherlands, a member of the “Euregio” district, and due to this economic and cultural centre for the region. Large Diameter Fittings
Polyethylene pipe systems are reliable, economic, and functional. Based upon the excellent properties of the material there are many areas of application in service and industrial pipe systems construction. In Germany in 2001, a total length of 1276 km of large bore pipes were laid for the drinking water distribution system (AMI Study 2003). Of this, 27% (350 km) was of polyethylene. Within central Europe, PE for pipe systems has established itself in the low and medium pressure pipe systems in district gas distribution systems. England has taken a leading role in this development. PE transportation pipe systems have used pipes up to 630 mm diameter.
For pressure drainage systems, large diameter PE pipe has been applied up to 1600 mm diameter. For the supply pipelines an even more emphatic swing occurred with the introduction of PE100 material. Based upon the improved material strength the pipe wall thickness could be reduced, higher pressures realised and costs minimised. The development and construction should be such that the static and dynamic loading with various applications guarantee the required life span and all of the components in the pipeline system chain demonstrate the same stability.
PE pipes are above all corrosion resistant and exhibit a limited coefficient of friction and with it an improved hydraulic capacity, which is maintained during the complete service life.
Welded systems exhibit a tight, axial force resistant and homogeneous material connection, which continues to function even with strong movements of the earth, such as with landslides and earthquakes.
Variable pipe lengths of up to 30 m are achievable, thereby substantially reducing the number of joints necessary.
Pipeline systems are available for all pipe dimensions in accordance with all of the valid standards and guidelines.
For the connection of PE pipelines to valves or other pipeline systems, the planners and operators introduce flange connectors. For the stipulated needs, loose and fixed flange connections are available for selection at all nominal dimensions.
The reduced flange is a nominal diameter fixed flange with a backing ring of steel or cast iron. This offers the advantage that the plastic pipe can be connected to a valve, cast iron pipe or steel pipe without offset of the nominal diameter. With the conventional DIN loose flange connection, an unwished offset in the diameter of the component is experienced.
The illustration shows a special (reduced) flange connection to a valve, with integrated O-ring seal and cast iron or steel backing ring to the rear. As a standard the special flange connector is supplied with an extended pipe section to allow on-site welding without problems. The O-ring seals with only a limited torque being applied. Standard torque values increase the safety of the connection.
In order to be able to offer a connector for increasing operational pressures and larger nominal diameters, the HP (High Pressure) flange was developed. The HP-flange connector consists of a special stub end and a loose flange covered with a high value plastic coating. The available contact surface is fully utilised in order to achieve complete transfer of the loading from the pipe. At the same time the outer diameter of the stub end is captured in a collar on the loose flange. Furthermore, a tongue in the loose flange fits into a grove in the stub end top ensures that the critical area remains clamped on all sides. This prevents the deformation of the stub end under pressure and that the connection remains tight.
Profile gaskets with steel insert are used more and more and are recommended for pressure systems of 10 bar in accordance with DVS 2210 -1.
With the introduction of PE100, more and more projects are planned up to 25bar and are realisable with these HP-flange connections. This strong and safe connection offers the advantage of a loose flange connection and exhibits the stability of a fixed flange connection. The HP-flange is supplied with an extended pipe end to allow welding without a problem.
T-pieces are subject to high quality and safety requirements. Due to the multiple stress situations, incorrectly dimensioned fittings will deform and lead to failure of the fitting. T-pieces produced from hollow bar are dimensioned such that the stresses produced under pressure will not cause failure, and hence offer safety.
These T-pieces are produced in various pressure classes up to 1600 mm diameter. A special advantage of this method of production is that the reduced branch can be made directly in the required dimension. If a valve (hydrant or gas diffuser) should be placed on the branch a thick-walled special flange connection can be welded on to ensure, ensuring sufficient stability. This version saves space, is stable, safe and of good value. In the event of more than one reduced branch outlet being welded onto the branch of the equal T-piece, then it is referred to as a reduced T-piece.
Already both of these examples evidence the flexibility of the system and make clear the many facetted application possibilities.
At the Plastics Exhibition K 2004 in Düsseldorf the newly constructed T-piece was displayed for the first time. This was produced from a profile bar, strengthened in the areas where required to combat the main stresses. At that time these profile T-pieces could be delivered in d 560 mm, d 630 mm and d 710 mm diameters.
Qualitative discerning solutions demand competent advice and material specific knowledge. The production is monitored from raw material to half or complete products by the most modern of test installations.
